Manchester United may have learned their fate in the transfer pursuit of Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi after a shock announcement by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
According to Don Balon, the Spanish giants’ chief yesterday informed the squad that he’d completed a deal for the £97million Argentine, who’d also been linked with Premier League clubs.
This follows on from reports in Diario Gol that Icardi had undergone a medical ahead of moving from the San Siro to the Bernabeu, in what looks a major blow to United’s transfer plans.

With Romelu Lukaku struggling to impress, Icardi could have been a fine upgrade up front, while the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea had also recently been linked with the 24-year-old.
The Red Devils may now turn to alternative targets such as Antoine Griezmann and Harry Kane, both of whom have been repeatedly linked with the club in recent months.
