Everton are reportedly confident of beating Southampton to the transfer of Arsenal winger Theo Walcott in a £20million deal this January.
However, this will likely depend on the future of Alexis Sanchez amid speculation linking him with Manchester City from the likes of the Sun and other sources.
Arsenal surely can’t afford to lose two top attacking players this winter, but the Daily Mail claim Everton are confident they can win the race for Walcott’s signature.
It certainly makes sense from the England international’s point of view to look for a move away from the Emirates Stadium, having barely featured in Arsene Wenger’s plans so far this season.
Walcott could have some hope of making England’s World Cup squad for the summer if he finds form in the second half of this season, but it’s hard to see him getting that chance with his current club.

Southampton have also been linked with an interest in re-signing the player they sold to the Gunners when he was just 16, but Everton look a more attractive prospect right now.
The Saints are hovering just above the relegation zone right now, while Everton have been in fine form since appointing Sam Allardyce as manager, moving up to 9th in the table.
