Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has criticised Luke Shaw over his lifestyle, suggesting he doesn’t do enough to look after himself.
The England international was handed a surprise start at Old Trafford tonight as the Red Devils beat CSKA Moscow 2-1 in the Champions League.
Shaw took his chance with both hands with a superb attacking display, even if he didn’t look entirely convincing with a lapse in concentration that cost United the opening goal on the night.
Jose Mourinho was, however, full of praise for Shaw after the game, suggesting he could even get more chances in his first-team in the near future after this fine comeback.
Scholes is known for being hard to impress, however, and told BT Sport he still felt unconvinced that the player did enough to look after himself off the pitch.

‘It’s difficult to say as we don’t see what goes on behind the scenes. I don’t think he lives his life as clean as he possibly should do,’ the former United star is quoted in the Sun.
‘With his body shape, he looks like a player who needs to be playing every week. We had Wayne Rooney, who was a player if he missed a couple of games you knew, he wasn’t looking after himself.
‘He needed to be playing all the time, Saturday, Tuesday, whatever it may be.
‘With Luke Shaw, is he going to get a run of 10 games in the team? I’m not sure, the problem he has got is that Ashley Young has been brilliant at left wing back.
‘I hope there is a future for him. A couple of years ago, I thought we were signing the best left back in the world.’
