Shkodran Mustafi gave Arsenal a crucial 1-0 lead against Tottenham in today’s North London Derby, heading home with some style from Mesut Ozil’s free-kick.
However, replays showed the Germany international may have been a touch offside when Ozil played the ball in, which did not go unnoticed by Spurs fans on Twitter.
It’s not easy to see from first viewing, but Tottenham fans are convinced the goal should not have stood – or that the free-kick should even have been given in the first place.
Arsenal fans won’t care, with the goal opening up the floodgates at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon as Alexis Sanchez scored a second to make it 2-0 shortly afterwards.
Still, Tottenham fans look to have some justification for their anger as they vent on social media following two poor decisions that seemed to turn the game…
Never a foul. Mustafi was offside. Seems the football gods did not like us in the first half but that’s no excuse for being sloppy.
Gotta tighten it up.#COYS #THFC

Arsenal just got a free goal.
First off, it wasn’t a foul.
Secondly, Mustafi was offside— David Uno (@D_Uno2904) November 18, 2017
