Speculation suggests that Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger could be offered an escape from Old Trafford by another Premier League outfit.

The German international has been deemed surplus to requirements at United by Jose Mourinho, and in turn will be considering his options in the coming weeks ahead of the transfer deadline.

Just a year after joining the club from Bayern Munich, it looks as though he’ll be on the move again with the Press Association, as noted by ESPN FC, reporting that the experienced midfielder is attracting plenty of interest from England.

The report adds that United are confident of selling the 32-year-old, and don’t expect his wage demands to be a stumbling block to a move elsewhere.

Schweinsteiger hasn’t featured for United in pre-season, and it looks as though he won’t get the chance to prove his worth to the club under Mourinho in the upcoming campaign.

The former Bayern star made 31 appearances in all competitions last season, but managed to feature for just 1,937 minutes, with a combination of injuries and lack of form preventing him from consistently playing.

That isn’t likely to be the only reason behind Mourinho’s snub, as ultimately the Portuguese tactician has his own ideas and vision for the team, one that now involves Paul Pogba after he signed from Juventus earlier this week.

With the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini amongst others battling for the spot in midfield next to the Frenchman, it looks as though Schweinsteiger’s days at Old Trafford are certainly numbered.
