To call a player who scored in half of his Chelsea appearances a flop may seem harsh.
However, Alexandre Pato was undoubtably a Chelsea flop.
The 26-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge in January in a loan deal that saw him play just twice for Blues.
Indeed, he scored on one of those appearances, albeit with a penalty and albeit against Aston Villa – one of the worst teams in Premier League history.
Pato’s forgettable Blues career included just 113 minutes of game time, but that is a poor excuse. Guus Hiddink surely would have given him more opportunities had he impressed more in training.
Despite his reputation-denting spell at Chelsea, Pato has today secured himself a move, as reported by Sky Sports.
Pato has signed for La Liga outfit Villarreal, who will be competing in the Champions League this season, having finished fourth in Spain last term, behind Real Madrid and table-toppers Barcelona.
Villarreal have nabbed Pato from Corinthians in Brazil.
