Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly both interested in signing Porto midfielder Ruben Neves this summer.

Both Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp have been busy strengthening their respective squads already, and they could be about to cross paths in the transfer market.

According to Portuguese daily DN Sports, Neves is set to leave Porto this summer and has attracted attention from both Premier League giants who could now enter a transfer battle over his signature.

The 19-year-old failed to make the final Portugal squad for Euro 2016, but has done enough to impress for his club with agent Jorge Mendes likely to be able to negotiate a favourable deal if he is to leave his homeland ahead of next season.

It is claimed that Mourinho is an admirer of the teenager and would be keen on adding quality and depth to his United midfield with his signing, with O Jogo suggesting that the Red Devils could be at the front of the queue to complete a deal.

Meanwhile, Klopp is seemingly keen on strengthening his midfield further having been linked with a string of players in that position so far this summer.

Whether Neves is the man to solve his issue remains to be seen, but the Portuguese ace has certainly shown enough in his short career to date to suggest that he is capable of offering the consistency, solidity and versatility to be a success in the Premier League with the right club.

United and Liverpool have been active in the transfer market already this summer, bringing in the likes of Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Joel Matip and Sadio Mane between them ahead of an important season next year.
