Arsenal could be primed to add a Brazilian midfielder with plenty of potential though limited experience if they are willing to take a fairly inexpensive gamble.
According to the Daily Star, Arsenal have been linked with a potential move for 18-year-old Corinthians midfielder Maycon. Per the source, his transfer fee is believed to be low but has the potential to rise with significant add-ons.
The teenage midfielder has just 14 appearances for Corinthians since making his debut for the club this past February. He scored his first professional goal in a win over Botafogo the following month.
The Daily Star also reported that Arsenal are in pursuit of Brazil/Santos striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa, who netted twice for Brazil this year in just four caps – and the Gunners hope they can land the pair in one fell swoop.
Unlike Gabigol, however, Maycon has yet to be featured for the Brazilian national team and has far less experience at the club level.
