Sadio Mane appears closer than ever to making a move to Liverpool and is set to make a key step before the move becomes final – a medical with the team.
According to BBC Sport, Mane will have his medical at Liverpool on Monday after the two clubs agreed on a £30 million transfer fee.
Mane notched 11 goals and six assists in the Premier League this past year. In 43 appearances in all competitions for Southampton, Mane scored 18 goals and six assists. He also played a big role in Southampton’s 3-2 comeback win over Liverpool back in March, where the Senegal winger scored twice to help the Saints get the win at St. Mary’s.
Per the source, Liverpool are also interested in recouping some of the cost by selling striker Christian Benteke, who made just 16 starts in all competitions for the club after making a £32.5 million transfer move from Aston Villa last summer.
If sold, Mane would be the second Southampton player to make a transfer move after Tottenham Hotspur announced the acquisition of defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama.
