Having completed a deal to bring Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester City, Pep Guardiola is keen on adding Jack Wilshere to his midfield options.
Despite just investing approximately £20 million in a central midfielder [fee as per BBC Sport], the Citizens are understood to be keen on recruiting the Arsenal playmaker according to The Sun.
The tabloid report that Pep Guardiola has placed the 24-year-old—who is set to represent England at the European Championships this summer—at the top of his transfer wishlist for the rest of the summer.
While 25-year-old Gundogan will likely be the man to keep the Sky Blues ticking over at the base of the midfield, Wilshere—should he remain fit—will provide dynamism and energy in more of a box-to-box role.
The tabloid add that the incoming Spanish coach, who is replacing Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad Stadium, is keen on boosting the number of homegrown players in his squad, with the club currently able to call on only three English players.

Wilshere’s fitness record will surely be a concern for City, with the international having only managed 141 minutes of Premier League action over three appearances this term.
