Granit Xhaka will reportedly wear the No.34 shirt at Arsenal next season after becoming their first signing of the summer on a long-term contract from Borussia Monchengladbach.

As the Daily Star reports, a fan leaked pictures of Xhaka wearing full Gunners kit ahead of his transfer to the Emirates Stadium, and claims that he has been assigned the squad number 34.
That is the same jersey that the Swiss wore for Gladbach. It has been held by Francis Coquelin at Arsenal for the past three seasons, but that could be about to change in a midfield reshuffle.
The Daily Star understands that Coquelin, Xhaka’s potential midfield partner in North London, will switch to the No. 8 shirt which has been left vacant by departed captain Mikel Arteta.
As might be expected, the No.34 jersey does not have a prestigious history at Arsenal, although it was worn by Ashley Cole and Kieran Gibbs when they were younger members of the squad.
