Manchester United flop’s season reaches new low with axe from FA Cup squad

Big-money flop Memphis Depay has been axed from Manchester United’s squad for tomorrow’s FA Cup final against Crystal Palace, according to The Mirror.

The Mirror claims that Depay was not with the United’s squad which travelled to London via train this afternoon, although a club spokeswoman declined to comment.

The Mirror reports that the Dutch winger trained with his teammates as normal at United’s Carrington Complex today, but was not a part of the travelling party.

This would be a new low for the 22-year-old in his hugely disappointing debut season at Old Trafford, in which he has scored only twice in 29 Premier League games.

The Mirror adds that young full-back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, who started Tuesday’s win over Bournemouth, has also been left behind by Louis van Gaal.

But the £25m signing from PSV Eindhoven – fee confirmed by The Mirror – is the headline omission as his time with the Red Devils continues to go from bad to worse.
