The door may be open for Manchester United and Manchester City to move for Reece Oxford because of the West Ham United teenager’s obscene financial demands.
According to The Sun, 17-year-old Oxford wants £40,000 per week and a £1m signing on fee to stay with the Hammers, who move into the Olympic Stadium next season.
Although Oxford has denied that he has rejected a new contract with West Ham, The Sun reports that he and the Londoners are in a stand-off over a new three-year contract.
This may alert the two Manchester giants. As The Sun reports, both have been linked with £8m moves for the England U19 star, who has two years to run on his current deal.
Oxford burst onto the scene with a hugely impressive performance as a 16-year-old in West Ham’s victory over Arsenal on the opening day of the Premier League season.
The promising starlet, who can play as a defender or holding midfielder, made 12 appearances for the Irons last term, but could be pricing the Hammers out of his best years.
