Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has revealed that he is hoping to represent Brazil at the Olympic games this summer.

Speaking to Goal Brazil, the 20-year-old has confirmed that it would be a dream come true to feature for the Selecao at the games on home soil later this summer.

“I hope to be called up for the games,” Pereira told Goal. “It’s one of my biggest dreams.

“I always hoped to leave a good impression on the coach and my teammates,” he continued. “I’m really happy to be earning opportunities, to be invited and to find the net.

“I hope everyone will keep believing in me, supporting in me, and I hope I can realise my dream of playing in the Olympics.”

Pereira has been a rare ray of light for Manchester United in a tricky campaign for the Red Devils.

With some of Louis van Gaal’s more high-profile signings struggling to impress at Old Trafford, Pereira has stepped into the side and delivered a handful of mature performances.

He featured for 80 minutes over four substitute appearances in the Premier League, making two cameos in the Europa League and also featuring for the best part of half an hour in the 2-1 victory over Wolfsburg.

The Duffel-born youngster represented Belgium at various youth levels up to the U-17 age group, before featuring for Brazil at U-20 and U-23 level.

Until he features for the Selecao’s senior side in a competitive match, Pereira would still be able to switch back to representing Belgium.
