Arsenal appear to have joined a host of their Premier League rivals in the race to sign Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, who could reportedly be available for £25m this summer.
According to The Mirror, Arsene Wenger will still be in charge at the Emirates Stadium next season, but is planning an overhaul of his squad and is keeping tabs on the Argentine.
There has long been a feeling that the Gunners are at least a top-class striker short of winning the title again. Leicester City’s miracle has extended Arsenal’s drought to 12 years.
Top scorer Olivier Giroud has scored 12 league goals this term, but is currently on a 15-match barren run. Theo Walcott has five top-flight goals this season, and Danny Welbeck four.

Icardi’s record for Inter suggests that he could be a step up on the forward options that Wenger has at his disposal. The 23-year-old has 51 goals in 104 games for the Serie A giants.
The Mirror understands that Icardi is odds-on to leave the San Siro this summer, but claims that Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been monitoring him.
