Tottenham working quickly to re-sign prized playmaker

Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has quietly been making a major impact for the Spurs this season and is the Premier League’s second-leading assist maker with 12 – only Mesut Ozil has more, with 18. As the club continues to work on securing the long-term futures of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, the Danish attacker appears to be first in line to get a new deal of his own.

According to the Metro, Eriksen is believed to be close to signing a new deal at White Hart Lane, but is reportedly waiting on the status of manager Mauricio Pochettino. Per Squawka, Pochettino is trying to get a contract extension from the Spurs himself amidst interest from top-flight clubs Man United, PSG and Real Madrid.

Per the source, the contract extension for Eriksen will increase his salary from £35,000 to £60,000-a-week.

Eriksen is a three-time Danish Footballer of the Year and was named Tottenham Player of the Year in 2014 after a strong debut with the team.
