Claudio Ranieri has sent a jovial message to Mauricio Pochettino as the Leicester City boss looks to alleviate the pressure on his side.
With four games remaining this season, the Foxes still hold a five-point lead over Spurs as they look to secure their first Premier League title.
Although many expected the Italian’s side to feel the pressure and nerves as the weeks went on, they continue to fight to keep hold of top spot and will entertain Swansea City on Sunday afternoon.
As he continues to endear himself to the media and neutrals as well as Leicester fans, Ranieri has sent a short message to Pochettino.
“Mauricio, you can wait,” Ranieri told reporters, as noted by ESPN FC. “Wait for one more year.
“The pressure is always at the top. They have been behind all year. I’m not bothered. I would love to stay five points ahead.”
The former Chelsea, Juventus and Roma boss has had a habit of falling just short of winning a major league title throughout his career, and will naturally be desperate to avoid that trend continuing this year.
Having explained that the respective circumstances at those clubs played a decisive part in his failures, his work at Leicester has arguably been the most impressive in his managerial career thus far.
For a club that was fighting off relegation at the end of last season to now be challenging for the Premier League title is a miraculous achievement particularly when considering the transfer budget and financial restrictions in place at the King Power Stadium compared to their more illustrious rivals.
Whether or not Pochettino will have to wait for his first Premier League title remains to be seen, as this will be another decisive week of fixtures with Spurs taking on West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane on Monday night hoping to be able to capitalise on a Leicester slip up.
