According to the Mirror, Jose Mourinho is planning a £70 million move to sign Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain when he is appointed Manchester United manager.
The tabloid note that the Portuguese coach is so confident that he will be taking over from Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford this summer, that he has already begun to consider potential signings.
According to the report, while Napoli want £95 million for the forward, they would be prepared to lower their asking price considering the hitman only has two years left on his contract.
Higuain, who worked under Mourinho during their mutual time at Real Madrid, could be an ideal addition to the Red Devils and is the kind of player who would immediately represent an upgrade on the club’s existing options.
The Argentine frontman is currently suspended—and missed Napoli’s Serie A defeat at the hands of Inter Milan on Saturday evening—but the 28-year-old currently sits atop the Italian top flight’s scoring charts, having bagged 32 goals so far this season.
