Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday was the latest sorry chapter in a season of failure for Louis van Gaal’s men.
After 32 rounds of Premier League fixtures, LVG’s Red Devils have a meagre goal difference of +9, having scored scored fewer goals than every member of the top four, as well as West Ham, Liverpool, Southampton, Chelsea, Everton and even Bournemouth.
With no player in double figures yet, scoring goals has been the biggest problem for the United first team.
Man United U18s have also had a tough campaign, which saw them finish 11th in the 12-team North Division.
However, their fortunes have improved recently. They are faring much better in Group 3 of the U18 Premier League’s Final Stage.
And it all came off for United’s youngsters on Saturday, as they hammered Newcastle 7-1. Oh, what United fans would do to see the first team score seven!
Indy Boonen grabbed a hat-trick, while Angel Gomes, Zach Dearnley, Tosin Kehinde, and Tyler Reid also found the net.
Perhaps Van Gaal should promote Boonen to his first team to show the senior stars how it’s done?
It wouldn’t be the first time the Dutchman has called upon the kids to bail him out at Old Trafford!
