There were many star performers for Tottenham Hotspur as Mauricio Pochettino’s men thrashed Manchester United 3-0 at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
But one player shone brighter than the rest. With 40% of a four-way Twitter vote conducted by @SpursOfficial, Erik Lamela, who scored his side’s third after setting up Toby Alderweireld for their second, was named the Tottenham man of the match.

Lamela and his teammates, who have been put through one of the Premier League’s most rigorous training regimes this season, were rewarded with a hard-earned day off on Monday.
And Lamela made the most of his break from Spurs Lodge by jetting off to Rome for the day.
Lamela spent two years in the Italian capital with AS Roma before moving to North London in a big-money transfer back in August 2013.
During his time with Roma, the Argentina international scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists in 62 Serie A appearances.
His time in England got off to a shaky start, but he has been one of Tottenham’s key men this season, featuring in 39 games in all competitions and adding flair as well as a tireless work-rate to a side who love to press high up the pitch.
Lamela documented his day-trip to Rome by posting a photo of himself and his girlfriend soaking up the Italian sun.
Spurs players who opted to remain in London are likely to have been restricted to mainly indoor activities, because – trust me – the weather in the English capital is far less summery.
