According to reports in Spain, Pep Guardiola is already considering potential new signings for Manchester City, and has made a specific request for Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal.
While the Citizens have a strong and diverse squad, various sections of their team are ageing, and Guardiola doubtless has a major overhaul—both in terms of incoming and outgoing players—ahead of him.
In the right-back position, for example, both Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta are established international operators, but both are the wrong side of 30 and have arguably demonstrated decline this season.
While various players have been linked to the exit door, there will also be arrivals, with Marca reporting that Guardiola is working on potential arrivals.
24-year-old Carvajal would arguably be an upgrade on both Sagna and Zabaleta, and still with his prime ahead of him, he would be a fine addition for the Citizens.
The right-sider has contributed four assists in 20 league outings for Real this season.
