While many fans in the Premier League are understandably quick to anoint Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil as the “assist king” of football, the final tally for assists in 2015 indicate that one player stood head and shoulders above the German winger. Manchester City‘s big summer pickup Kevin De Bruyne takes that distinction for the 2015 calendar year thanks to his dominance in the Premier League and his former club VfL Wolfsburg.
According to Squawka Football, De Bruyne has recorded an astounding 28 assists between the Premier League and Bundesliga in the 2015 calendar year – the most by any player in Europe’s top five leagues.

The Belgian midfielder finished the 2014-15 season with Wolfsburg as the Bundesliga leader in assists, setting the all-time assist record for the Germany league in the process and earning Player of the Year honors. De Bruyne also earned Europa League Squad of the season honors and was named Footballer of the Year in Germany.

De Bruyne signed with Manchester City in the final week of the summer transfer window in a massive deal with the Citizens. Since joining the club, he has scored five Premier League goals and added eight assists, leading the club in the latter category.
As for Mesut Ozil, the star winger leads all major European leagues in assists for the 2015-16 season – but not the calendar year. With his form as it is now though, that might chance in 2016.
