Javier Hernandez in action for Man United

Arsenal are reportedly considering a January bid for former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez in a bid to bolster their options up front.

According to The Daily Star, the Gunners are keen on bringing the Mexican international back to the Premier League after he has rediscovered his form and confidence having left Old Trafford for Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

Hernandez has scored 19 goals in 21 games since joining the Bundesliga side in a £7m move, and it is reported that the striker would love a second opportunity in England to prove himself after being snubbed by Louis van Gaal.

In turn, that has alerted Arsene Wenger to the situation as the French tactician would like to add depth behind Olivier Giroud, and that could see him pushed into action in the January transfer window.

Hernandez endured a difficult end to his spell with United after being sent out on loan to Real Madrid last season, before Van Gaal decided to get rid of him having told him that he had little to no chance of playing for him.

That in turn forced the Mexican star to look elsewhere, and he has certainly made the most of his new opportunity as his former club continue to struggle to find the net which has led to speculation that Van Gaal is close to being sacked.
