According to reports, Aston Villa coach Remi Garde may be set to sever ties with club stalwart Gabby Agbonlahor as he looks to raise funds for January additions.

The Villains are struggling badly in the Premier League so far this season, and appear destined for relegation.

After 16 matches, the Birmingham heavyweights find themselves bottom of the pile on six points, having won only one match to date.

Heading into the festive period, the Villains sit eight points off safety, having managed less than half the points return of 17th-place Swansea City, and the arrival of Garde—who replaced Tim Sherwood—has failed to have much of an impact on the Claret and Blues.

According to the Daily Mail, the French coach is set to axe club stalwart Agbonlahor as he looks to raise funds ahead of a January facelift.

29-year-old Agbonlahor—an England international—has spent his entire career with his local club, but has yet to score this season, despite starting nine games.

Calf injuries have affected his progress, while the summer additions of players such as Jordan Ayew and Rudy Gestede have limited his impact at Villa Park.
