Manchester United will reportedly go head-to-head with La Liga giants Real Madrid in the battle to sign Arsenal playmaker Alexis Sanchez, according to Spanish publication Don Balon.
The Chilean international has been one of the Premier League’s brightest stars since arriving at Arsenal from Barcelona in 2014, but could be set to return to La Liga.
United are also thought to be in the race to bring him up to the Northwest and will target a play for his signature over the summer.
But Real are hoping to convince him that he stands a better chance of garnering success if he joins them instead of the Red Devils as he would stand a bigger chance of success with United still in a state of transition.
However, Real chiefs fear that the possibility of working with Pep Guardiola again – who has been tipped to succeed Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford – may sway his thinking into keeping him in England.
