Man United transfer roundup: Arsenal star, PSG midfielder, Stones chase, defender loan

Posted by

Manchester United are beginning to feel the pressure after losing to AFC Bournemouth and failing to qualify for the Champions League. The Red Devils are now a rather distant fourth on the Premier League table and will be playing in the Europa League instead. All is not lost, however, as Man United are expected to open the wallet for some big transfer targets in January, which could lead to a quick turnaround for the under-performing squad.

Man United have talented targets such as John Stones, Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez in mind. If Louis van Gaal has his way, any one of them could be headed to Old Trafford.

Here is the Man United transfer roundup for Monday:

Alexis Sanchez Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez pursuit

Last season Alexis Sanchez was a top-ten goal scorer and one of the best scoring threats in the Premier League. His effectiveness this season has limited somewhat by injury, but Man United are still very much interested in bringing him to Old Trafford – especially if they can find a way to pair him up with his former manager Pep Guardiola in the near future. Though the Red Devils appear intent on landing Juventus megastar Paul Pogba, Mundo Deportivo reported that the club will make an offer to Paris Saint-Germain for midfielder Marco Verratti in the event they lose out on Pogba.

The star midfielder has drawn comparisons to a young Andrea Pirlo and has also drawn interest from Barcelona.

John Stones

€70m bid for John Stones

The Man United defence has been exposed one too many times over the last few weeks and it appears that Louis van Gaal intends on bringing in one of Europe’s best defenders to solidify his unit. Everton defender John Stones will reportedly be the target of a €70 million bid from LvG. [Source: Le 10 Sport]
