Arsenal defender Calum Chambers is reportedly being considered by Everton boss Roberto Martinez ahead of the January transfer window.
According to The Liverpool Echo, the 20-year-old could be on the move to Goodison Park as he continues to have limited opportunities in north London.
With Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny still the first-choice pairing at the heart of the Gunners defence, coupled with Hector Bellerin making the right-back position his own, Chambers has now featured in less than half of the fixtures so far this season.
As a result, Martinez believes that there could be a situation at the Emirates that he could exploit, while it is also suggested that it is a move with one eye on the future of John Stones.
The England international was the subject of three failed bids from Chelsea in the summer, and it is expected that the reigning Premier League champions will return for him next month.
If that is the case, then Martinez has arguably identified Chambers as a possible replacement in the Everton defence as the Toffees look to build on their success so far this season.
Martinez’s side sit in 10th place in the Premier League table, but remain just six points adrift of Manchester United who currently occupy the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot.
In addition, the Spaniard has also guided the club to the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup where they will face Manchester City.
