Louis van Gaal is reportedly planning to turn to Everton forward Romelu Lukaku as he looks to improve Manchester United‘s fortunes.
It’s been a miserable week for United, who were dumped out of the Champions League after losing to Wolfsburg, before falling to a shock 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Attack has once again been a concern for the Red Devils, for whom big-money signings Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay are still to convince. Jesse Lingard limped off against the Cherries with an injury, and his absence could see United’s strikeforce weakened further [via the club’s official website].
However, van Gaal is understood to have identified Everton forward Lukaku as a potential solution for the Old Trafford heavyweights, with the Mirror [as per Le 10 Sport] noting that the Dutch coach is plotting a €70 million move for the Belgian international.
Lukaku is enjoying an excellent campaign, having found the net 12 times in 16 EPL outings to date so far this season.

However, United’s hopes of signing the forward may need to be tempered by the news that Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on the player.
According to the French source, the Parc des Princes giants see the 22-year-old as the ideal long-term successor to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose contract comes to an end next summer.
