With less than a month to go until the January transfer window opens, Dutch publication De Telegraaf are reporting that Manchester United will go in armed with £100million for new transfers and a further £20million for player wages.

The report claims that manager Louis van Gaal is hoping to land one of world football’s biggest stars, with the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Neymar all being named.

However, the report also goes on to say that the manager may decide to wait until the summer to spend the money, as he feels he will be given another war chest wherever United finish in the table this term.

Telegraaf claim that despite the results on the pitch, which have left fans frustrated this year, the Glazers and chairman Ed Woodward are pleased with Val Gaal’s overall management of the club. As a reward he’s supposedly getting £100m to spend.

And aside from that, the wage bill will be given a further boost to the tune of £20m.
