Gary Neville’s appointment as Valencia head coach was sent social media into overdrive.
Many found the news very amusing. Ben Crossland tweeted: “Ha ha ha Gary Neville at Valencia , made my day that lol”.
Meanwhile, some keyboard warriors ignored his credentials and just attacked Gary Neville for being Gary Neville.
Mick Kenny’s straightforward opinion was that “Gary Neville’s a w*nk of a guy”.

Stewart Finn delivered the best analysis of the situation though, giving his hilarious insight into the fact that Phil Neville – Valencia’s assistant manager – was once again about to be dumped into his big brother’s shadow.
“No one grew up wanting to be Gary Neville except Phil…usurped again…and from left field, poor Phil :/,” Finn wrote on Twitter.
Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon, who works as a pundit for BBC Sport, joked that another Neville could make it a real dream team in Valencia.
Dixon, stinking out Twitter with his banter, kidded: “Just got to get Tracey as offensive coach for a hat trick of Nevilles!”
