Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Manchester United are eyeing a move for Red Devils icon Cristiano Ronaldo, while West Bromwich Albion hitman Saido Berahino has also been tipped for a move to the EPL giants.
According to The Sun, LVG has revealed that United are currently attempting to bring £80 million Ronaldo back to Old Trafford from Real Madrid.
“We are looking at all players, not just Ronaldo. But these players are mostly ungettable,” the Dutch coach began, as per The Sun. “With Ronaldo, let’s wait and hope. There is no trainer in the world that doesn’t like him.”
The tabloid also report that £25 million Berahino is being considered as a short-term fix for United and could be brought in in the January transfer window in order to add some much-needed firepower to the Red Devils’ ranks.
Van Gaal spent big to bring Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial to Old Trafford in the summer, but while both men have impressed in patches—Depay opened the scoring in the victory over Watford on Sunday—neither have yet demonstrated that they can shoulder the goalscoring burden for title contenders.
