Girondins de Bordeaux coach Willy Sagnol has tipped Pep Guardiola to replace Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City.
The Spanish manager is enjoying a fine beginning to the season at Bayern Munich, where his side lead the Bundesliga table and were victorious again at the weekend—defeating Stuttgart 4-0.
The former Barcelona manager is relentlessly linked to the Premier League, and has been name-checked recently as a potential replacement for Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.
The Pensioners are enduring a miserable start to the season—a stark contrast to their fellow reigning champions Bayern in Germany—and as such, the Portuguese manager has found himself under pressure.
However, according to Sagnol—who played as a full-back for Bayern and the French national side—Guardiola would be better suited by switching to Manchester City.
“Guardiola should leave Bayern if he feels that he has done everything he could,” Sagnol told German publication Kicker.
“He should start a new project if that’s the case. Coaches always think about projects,” he continued.
“I reckon Manchester City would be a bigger challenge for him than Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain. There is still plenty of work to do there. They have not won any major trophies yet.”

Since leaving Barcelona—where he oversaw one of the greatest teams in the history of the sport—Guardiola has enjoyed great success at Bayern.
He has won three Bundesliga titles, and also won the German Cup, the Uefa Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
However, the Champions League has evaded him, with the Bavarian side repeatedly stumbling at the semi-final stage.
