Tottenham Hotspur may have failed to beat Arsenal in the North London Derby on Sunday, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side are looking to pip their rivals to the signing of Nigerian sensation Victor Osimhen.
The wonderkid is currently setting the U-17 World Cup alight in Chile and has delivered a series of outstanding displays as the Super Eaglets have advanced to the final, which they will contest against Mali on Sunday evening.
Osimhen has bagged nine goals to date, equalling the record set by Florent Sinama Pongolle and also held by Ivorian forward Souleymane Coulibaly. One more in the final would take the Nigerian starlet ahead of those two as the outright all-time top scorer in the competition.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs want Osimhen and have contacted his representatives at the Ultimate Strikers Academy, with whom he is currently registered.
The same source note that Arsenal and Manchester City are both also keen on the player, but that they are prioritising a move for the player’s international teammate Kelechi Nwakali.

While Spurs would be delighted to acquire Osimhen, one of the most exciting U-17 players in the game, they may well be wary about their experiences with former Ivorian prodigy Coulibaly.
The young forward, having equalled Sinama Pongolle’s record in 2011, moved to North London but never truly kicked on and now plays for Peterborough United in League One.
