If recent reports are accurate, reigning Premier League MVP Eden Hazard could be ready to abandon the sinking ship that is Chelsea‘s 2015-16 season. While Real Madrid are being viewed as the top contenders for securing his transfer, will the Blues’ asking price prove prohibitive?
According to the Daily Mail, Real Madrid are considering a deal for Hazard but are concerned that Chelsea are going to ask for at least £86 million – a mark that would break the £85.3 million they paid Tottenham Hotspur for Gareth Bale in 2013.
Hazard has been almost entirely out of form this season, failing to score a goal through the first 11 fixtures of the Premier League season and finding his place in Jose Mourinho’s plans in question.
Last season, Hazard scored 14 goals and was named Premier League Player of the Season en route to the League Cup and the Premier League title. Unfortunately, Hazard missed the fifth penalty kick against Stoke City in Chelsea’s League Cup Fourth Round this season, knocking Chelsea out of the tournament early.
The Belgian susperstar possesses the kind of status and quality that would make him a natural fit for Real Madrid’s glittering assembly of stars.
