Liverpool had not beaten Chelsea in eight previous matches, but as striker Christian Benteke effectively ended that run of futility with a lead-doubling goal in the final minutes of the match, the Reds were quick to rub salt in the wounds of embattled Blues manager Jose Mourinho.
As the minutes ticked off in what would be Chelsea’s sixth loss of the season, the elated Liverpool fans started chanting “You’re not special, you’re not special, you’re not special anymore!” In mockery of Mourinho’s nickname “The Special One.”

Initially the match appeared like it might be an easy win for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with Ramires scoring a goal less than five minutes into the match. But in a rather contentious decision to allow play to continue a little too deep into extra time, Philippe Coutinho equalized with a goal in the final minutes of the first half.
In the second half though, Liverpool managed to break the break open with a second goal from Coutinho to take the lead. But it was their expensive striker Christian Benteke – fresh off an injury spell – who put the nail in Chelsea’s coffin with a right footer that slipped past Asmir Begovic for the 3-1 win.
