The father of Barcelona star Neymar claims both the player and the club rejected a summer move to Manchester United, according to the Daily Express.
The 23-year-old was the subject of some serious transfer speculation over the summer after it emerged that United boss Louis van Gaal wanted to bring in a new striker to further boost his striking options (via Express).
And now the Brazil international’s father has confirmed that there was a firm offer on the table from the Red Devils when they approached Barcelona officials.
“The offer reached Barcelona and the club contacted us saying they were not going to sell,” Neymar Sr told Boa Tarde Fox.
“They asked if we were interested, but that wasn’t the case.”
However, he then went on to confirm that his son would be staying at Barcelona for the foreseeable future.
“Barcelona are not selling, he has three years still to go on his contract.
“It was Manchester’s deal, but that offer is not on the table now, it has fallen through.”
