Manchester City have a slim lead in the Premier League, but the loss of yet another superstar puts them at risk of losing that edge.
According to Sky Sports, star striker Sergio Aguero has been ruled out of action for the next four weeks by Citizens manager Manuel Pellegrini due to injury. The Golden Boot winner from last season injured his hamstring while playing for Argentina against Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier during the international break.
Aguero recorded a five-goal haul in a 6-1 win over Newcastle United. He is currently second in the league goal scoring charts with six, behind only Leicester’s Jamie Vardy, who has seven.
Over the next four weeks, Man City have seven tricky fixtures. They will face Bournemouth, Manchester United, Norwich, and Aston Villa in the Premier League. In between those Premier League matches they will also face Sevilla twice in the Champions League and Crystal Palace in the Capital One Cup.
Aguero is one of several superstars that have been injured over the last few weeks. Premier League POTY candidate David Silva has missed several games while star defenders Vincent Kompany & Aleksandar Kolarov also suffered injuries.
