Liverpool are confident of securing a deal to appoint Jurgen Klopp as their new manager before they take on Tottenham in their next Premier League fixture on October 17th according to Goal.com.

Liverpool’s American owners elected to sack Brendan Rodgers on Sunday following their side’s indifferent start to the current campaign and are set for official talks with Klopp this week.

Klopp spent seven successful years in charge at Borussia Dortmund, helping the Westfalenstadion side to two Bundesliga titles as well as guiding the club to a Champions League final, and is available after quitting the German side at the end of the 2014/15 season.

Brendan Rodgers helped Liverpool to a commendable runners-up finish in 2013/14 but has seen his side go backwards since the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Last season the Northern Irishman could only secure a sixth place finish in the Premier League and despite extensive spending over the summer things haven’t improved during the current campaign.
