Sherwood strongly hints at Villa Adebayor raid.
Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood appears to have strongly hinted at a move to sign released Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor on a free transfer.
The former Spurs boss enjoyed a good relationship with the Togolese forward during his time in charge at White Hart Lane, though the player failed to break into the side under current boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Confirmed as leaving Tottenham earlier today, Adebayor is now a free agent, and Sherwood says he is welcome at Villa Park, whilst also making the bizarre claim that the 31-year-old “would play for nothing”.
“I would not hesitate. If he had the desire to want to come and play football again, I would have taken him in a heartbeat,” Sherwood is quoted in the London Evening Standard.

Adebayor was on wages of over £100,000 per week at Spurs and has long been known for being something of a money-grabber at his previous clubs.
