Decisive statement from Real chief.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has seemingly ruled out a move to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea in the January transfer window.

The Spanish giants tried for much of the summer to land the 24-year-old shot-stopper, who was known to be keen on the move to the Bernabeu but who may now sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

According to the Independent, Perez is not expecting to renew his interest in De Gea this winter, and aimed a little dig at United in the process.

“We will certainly not sign De Gea in January,” Perez said.

“Madrid did its job as best it could. We did not get there on time because Manchester does not have the necessary experience to tackle these things on the last day, as happened last year with Coentrao.”
