News that Manchester United have opened talks with goalkeeper David de Gea over a new contract has evoked a huge reaction from supporters on social media.
BBC Sport broke the news on Thursday night that the Red Devils are keen to keep hold of the Spaniard, who saw a move to Liga BBVA giants Real Madrid collapse on transfer deadline day last week, at the club and avoid him leaving on a free when his current deal expires at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old is yet to make an appearance for United this season as manager Louis van Gaal opted for summer signing Sergio Romero in between the sticks for the club’s first six games of the new season.
However, following the Argentinian’s mistake in the 2-1 defeat against Swansea City before the international break, De Gea could be handed a recall to the starting XI for the huge clash against bitter rivals Liverpool on Saturday evening.
