Javier Hernandez‘ transfer from Manchester United to Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen is at an advanced stage, following video footage of the striker completing the first part of his medical.

The Mexican, who spent last season on-loan at Liga BBVA giants Real Madrid, has not started any of the Red Devils’ first six games of the new campaign and missed a penalty in what looks to have been his final appearance for the club in their UEFA Champions League playoff second leg tie against Club Brugge last week.

His departure from Old Trafford looked certain when he was left on the substitutes bench against Swansea City at the weekend despite them trailing and he is likely to leave the club short of central strikers when his transfer to Leverkusen is complete.

Wayne Rooney is currently United’s only recoginsed centre-forward in the first-team, although the club are closing in on the signing of Anthony Martial from AS Monaco.
