There could be some late Chelsea transfer news on deadline day, with the Blues reportedly closing in on a new signing in defence.
The Premier League champions are supposedly set to bring in Nantes centre-back Papy Djilobodji, according to French news source 20 minutes.
The Senegalese international has really caught the eye with some strong displays in Ligue 1, and it is now being claimed that the player is having a medical ahead of a deadline day move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have had an unconvincing start to the season, with a home defeat to Crystal Palace this weekend making it just one win from the Blues’ opening four games.

Chelsea transfer news
Uncharacteristically for a Jose Mourinho side, Chelsea have been leaking goals and looking highly unconvincing at the back, with a record of nine goals against them already this season.
It remains to be seen if Djilobodji can solve all the team’s woes in that area, but there certainly looks a case to be made for replacing the ageing John Terry, who has not looked as solid as last season, even being subbed off at half time in the defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Gary Cahill has also been in and out of the side, while youngster Kurt Zouma is arguably not yet ready to be a regular, meaning Djilobodji could be a smart buy to finish the summer.
