In no particular order, here are some late panic buys the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United will want to forget…
1) Fernando Torres (Liverpool to Chelsea, 2011)
One of the most famous deadline day disasters, Fernando Torres was world class at Liverpool but awful at Chelsea following his £50m transfer.
2) Robinho (Real Madrid to Manchester City, 2008)
The first big signing of the Sheikh Mansour era, Robinho ended up flopping big time after leaving Real Madrid for Manchester City, eventually ending up back in Brazil with Santos.
