Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to fork out as much as £73m to land Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, according to the Daily Star.
The 22-year-old left Manchester United for Turin in 2012 and has become a massive success in Italy, helping Juventus to three successive Serie A titles, and is now one of world football’s hottest prospects.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has seen his side struggle in their push to retain their Premier League title; the West London outfit are already five points off leaders Man City after just three fixtures, and his usually reliable central midfield pairing of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas has looked out of sorts.
Abramovich is well versed in the art of spending big sums and has always been willing to dig deep to help Chelsea in their pursuit of glory. The Daily Star believe the West London side are looking to bring in Pogba as soon as possible this summer for fear he could join Barcelona in 12 months’ time.

The addition of a player of Pogba’s obvious abilities would certainly act as a real statement of intent to their rivals both domestic and continental.
