Anfield striker could be set for San Siro return.
Liverpool forward Mario Balotelli has flown back to Italy to conduct talks with AC Milan over a potential loan return to his former club according to the Daily Mail.
The 25-year-old striker scored just one goal in 16 Premier League appearances last season and hasn’t even featured in Liverpool’s match-day squad this season, with new signings Christian Benteke and Danny Ings effectively ending his career at the Merseyside club, and is clearly a player Brendan Rodgers would happily offload.
New AC Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic is open to bringing in Balotelli and even though an initial loan deal wouldn’t resolve Liverpool’s long-term ambitions to sell the Italian international, the move could act as a useful shop window for the player’s talents.
