Manchester United are hoping that Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is the subject of abuse from fans in his first home game this season, reports the Daily Mirror.
If he is, they believe that a last-minute offer for the 26-year-old could be successful.
The former Tottenham man is apparently rated at £95 million, and if signed would be a major statement to the rest of the division. It could even help the Red Devils challenge Chelsea and Manchester City for the Premier League title.
Last season, Bale came in for criticism from the Bernabeu faithful after failing to hit the heights of the campaign before. If this negativity continues, it could make president Florentino Perez rethink his desire to keep the forward, according to the Mirror.
