Tottenham are leading the race to sign FC Basel’s teenage attacker Breel Embolo, according to the Daily Mirror.
18-year-old Embolo impressed greatly last season as he helped his side to a Swiss Super League title, netting ten goals in the process, and was rewarded for his efforts with a first senior Swiss national team cap in March.
The Daily Mirror reports that Mauricio Pochettino sent scouts to monitor Embolo over the weekend and the forward duly starred, bagging two goals in Basel’s 3-1 win over Luzern.
Though clearly a youthful prospect, Pochettino could well do with strengthening his attacking options, and though Breel Embolo is still a teenager he has a good level of experience and has even netted in the Champions League.

Last season, Tottenham overly relied upon Harry Kane, and Pochettino can not bank on the England international recapturing the same level of form that saw the 22-year-old net a mammoth 31 goals in all competitions last term.
Roberto Soldado, Emmanuel Adebayor and Erik Lamela offered little by way of goal-scoring support and Breel Embolo, rated at being available for a fee of £10m by the Daily Mirror, could provide something of an unknown quantity which could offer the North London side a fresh option in the final third.
Pochettino has already moved to strengthen his defence this summer, bringing in Kieran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer, although as yet, despite being linked with a succession of frontmen, Spurs are yet to bring in a new forward.
