Manchester United are growing increasingly confident in their pursuit of Barcelona winger Pedro and are hopeful the player will be in attendance for their opening game of the new season on Saturday.

The 28-year-old is seen as a direct replacement for United’s club record signing Angel Di Maria, who is closing in on a transfer to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain after just one season in English football.

A fee is yet to be agreed between United and Barca, but Mirror Sport understands that the Red Devils are positive about their chances about having a £20million bid accepted by the Catalan giants and are willing to offer the winger a four-year-deal with the option of a 12-month extension.

Should all go to plan, it’s expected Pedro will be at Old Trafford this weekend to witness his new teammates kick-off the new Barclays Premier league season against Tottenham.
