Jose Mourinho, the Chelsea manager, has sadly revealed that the Premier League champions are unlikely to dominate the headlines on transfer deadline day this summer.

As part of Sky Sports’ 92Live, pundit Jim White asked the Portuguese boss his thoughts on any major incomings on the final day of the market. Mourinho teased that he enjoys the excitement of the occasion, but dismissed the Blues’ chances of heavy spending:

“I don’t think [we’ll do anything on deadline day] but I will be enjoying your show for sure,” he told Sky Sports.

Thus far, Chelsea have secured the signatures of just two players: striker Radamel Falcao and goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Mourinho appears to have complete confidence in the current crop of stars that saw the Premier League title return to Stamford Bridge for the first time in five years – but has been linked with two defensive signings.

Everton centre-back John Stones has been the subject of two bids from Chelsea, while Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose has recently emerged as an alternative target to FC Augsburg’s Abdul Rahman Baba.
